PC owners needing a high-capacity power supply with the new 12V-2×6 connector have another option as SilverStone announces its Extreme1200R Platinum PSU. The Extreme1200R gets SilverStone’s Cybenetics Platinum certification which means it’s up to 91% efficient for reduced power waste. The PSU is also PCIe Gen 5 and SFX12V 4.1 compliant making it both ideal for dynamic power usage events needed for modern graphics cards while being able to be installed in small form factor scenarios. Made with all Japanese capacitors the Extreme1200R also comes with a complete set of flat cables. The 120mm FDB fan can operate in a semi-fanless mode during non-intensive workloads for quiet environments.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
