Lucasfilm has announced that it is developing The Mandalorian & Grogu, a new Star Wars film inspired by one of Disney’s most successful streaming series.
Highlights:
- Jon Favreau (The Mandalorian, Iron Man) is set to direct the film
- Favreau will also be producing the movie, alongside Kathleen Kennedy (President) and Dave Filoni (Executive VP/CCO) at Lucasfilm
- Production is scheduled to begin this year, although story details are still under wraps
- The movie “will lead” Lucasfilm’s Star Wars film projects, including those from Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni
- Filoni is also developing Ahsoka Season 2
- Pedro Pascal’s return hasn’t been confirmed yet
