Hogwarts Legacy Was the Best-Selling Game of 2023, Breaking 14-Year Streak Set by Call of Duty and Rockstar Games

Circana’s Mat Piscatella has shared a list of the best-selling titles in 2023, and at the top of the list is Hogwarts Legacy, the open-world action RPG set in The Wizarding World that Avalanche Software released in February 2023. Hogwarts Legacy’s performance is notable in that Call of Duty games have held the no. 1 spot for over a decade, with two exceptions being Grand Theft Auto V (2013) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018) from Rockstar Games. Hogwarts Legacy has sold at least 22 million copies.
