PC owners looking for a great amount of power need look no further as Cooler Master introduces its X Mighty Platinum power supply. Cooler Master debuted its new X Mighty PSU line at CES 2024 where it showed off the new 2000W model and its slightly larger sibling, 2800W version. Don’t be fooled by the X Mighty Platinum’s wattage potential because the 2000W is 80+ Platinum certified meaning it can achieve an efficiency of 92% during typical workloads. It also supports the ATX 3.1 standard, PCIe 5.1, and comes with two heavy-duty right-angle 12V-2×6 cables capable of delivering up to 600W to two GPUs.

As Cooler Master introduces the X Mighty Platinum 2000W it includes many premium features in its construction to ensure maximum performance and reliability. An exclusive aluminum thermal heatsink is paired with a 2000 RPM 120mm fan and is capable of zero-rpm operation for silent running. Cooler Master has designed the X Mighty Platinum 2000W with an active bridge rectifier which replaces traditional bridge diodes with Infineon CoolMOS for further improved power efficiency and reliability. Cooler Master’s MasterCTRL software enables real-time monitoring of the PSU and is a part of the company’s MasterHub software suite which was also shown off at CES 2024.

Key Features (via press release):

  • 80 Plus Platinum Efficiency: This unit is certified to achieve more than 92% efficiency at typical loads in a 115V test.
  • Active bridge rectifier: Bridge diodes have been replaced with an active bridge rectifier to improve performance.
  • ATX 3.1 support & two durable 12V-2×6 cables: Includes ATX 3.1 support and two 90-degree 12+4pin (12V-2×6) PCIe 5.1 cables featuring lower temperatures, enhanced durability, and improved safety.
  • Digital Monitoring with MasterCTRL: Cooler Master’s MasterCTRL software allows users to monitor temperature, current load, and performance metrics.
  • Long-lasting reliability: Built with Infineon industrial-grade IC chips for high quality performance and long-lasting reliability.

Cooler Master has not revealed pricing and availability for the new PSU but has said that it will be covered by a 10-year warranty.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
