GIGABYTE has updated some of its custom GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 GPUs with a new PCB design, according to comparison photos of a GAMING OC model that were shared on the NVIDIA subreddit last week. The updated design, which is said to deliver greater durability near the PCIe locking mechanism, follows various claims of GIGABYTE GeForce RTX Series cards cracking.

MisinformationALWAYS added:
- “…both v1.0 and v1.1 versions of the 4090 are still in production. The main difference between the two is that the v1.1 uses a much beefier 70a VRM setup (likely parts availability) while the v1.0 uses the original reported 50a but its dead quiet when it comes to coil whine. Its actually the quietest 4090 I’ve heard in that regard.”
- “This pertains to just this model since it was notorious for cracking but I think it applies to all of these large Gigabyte models like the Aero/Aorus.”
- Supers are all revised but 4090’s and OG 4080’s I’m not too sure what the cut off date is. The 4090 I pictured with the revised PCB has a manufacture date of 11/2023…
GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4080/4090 GAMING models include:
- GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING OC 24G (rev. 1.0 / 1.1)
- GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING 24G (rev. 1.0 / 1.1)
- GeForce RTX 4080 16GB GAMING OC
- GeForce RTX 4080 16GB GAMING
Comments:
- “…the included support bracket is actually very well designed and would prevent this all together if used. I’m guessing many opt not to.”
- “Incredible how so many people aren’t using a support bracket mounted to the mobo or even a freestanding pillar with how chonky AIB cards are.”
- “I’m unbelievably impressed with the noise level under load of my 4080 Gaming OC. I don’t impress easy and I’m going to shout this things praises from the mountain top (I really … really hate loud hardware).”
