Stellar Blade shouldn’t be played by minors, according to an update from the Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) that can confirm the new PS5 exclusive from Shift Up will be released with an adults-only (19+) rating in its local country of South Korea. Eve, whose body is modeled after Korean model Shin Jae-eun, appears naked at some points during the game.

Reasons for the rating:

  • There is direct explicit body exposure, such as the female character appearing naked in her costume.
  • Excessive violence
  • Characters during the game. There is an expression of a mutilated body and red blood.

Hyung-Tae Kim (game director) on Eve’s butt:

  • “When it comes to the design, we put special attention on the back of the character because the player is always facing the back of the character when they’re playing. That’s what they see the most of, so we thought this was pretty important.”
  • “Honestly, when I play a game I would like to see someone who is better-looking than myself. That’s what I want. I don’t want to see something normal; I want to see something more ideal. I think that is very important in a form of entertainment. This is, after all, entertainment targeted for adults.”
  • “The character Eve, at the beginning, is not that great of an existence. But as the game progresses, she takes on more and more burdens and comes to make important decisions. She gets to interact with more characters and other people, and becomes more human. In the beginning, she’s more soldier-like and doesn’t have that many emotions or show much expression. As the game and story progresses, you get to see the change in her emotions.”

Game description:

Save humanity from extinction in this electrifying story-driven action adventure.

The future of humanity is balanced on the edge of a blade. Ravaged by strange, powerful creatures, Earth has been abandoned, and what is left of the decimated human race has fled to a Colony in outer space.

After traveling from the Colony, Paratrooper Eve arrives on the desolate remains of our planet with a clear-cut mission: to save humankind by reclaiming Earth from the NA:tive – the malevolent force that has devastated it.

But as Eve tackles the NA:tive one-by-one, piecing together the mysteries of the past as she explores the ruins of human civilization, she realizes that her mission is far from straightforward. In fact, almost nothing is as it seems…
