Nightingale, the new PVE open-world survival crafting game from Inflexion Games, is launching without AMD FSR 3 because the technology has a tendency for crashing the game, according to a pre-launch update from the developer. Intel XeSS and NVIDIA DLSS will be available when the game launches in early access on Tuesday, February 20.

Inflexion explains:

  • After reviewing crash data from the Server Stress Test, a significant number of them seemed to point to FSR3 integrations, whether or not users had the setting turned on.
  • To ensure better stability, we temporarily have removed FSR3 from the launch build and are working with various external and internal teams to see if we can implement it, or an older FSR version, in future updates.

The alternatives come by way of Inflexion’s tips for maximizing performance:

  • Turn on performance boost options: Intel, Nvidia and AMD all have their own AI-powered super sampling or upscaling solutions (XeSS, DLSS, and FSR) that is supported by Nightingale.
  • Enable frame generation: Frame generation interpolates a frame in between each rendered frame that can improve your framerate by up to 80%! Nvidia DLSS, and AMD FSR both have options available for some cards to utilize frame generation in Nightingale.
