The ASRock AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE Steel Legend 16GB OC Graphics Card features a triple-fan design for optimal cooling of the Navi 31 GPU which has a factory overclock of up to 2333 MHz. The fans can also operate in silent 0dB mode when not under load. The card has a metal frame and backplate for added support. ARGB fan Lighting effects can be controlled via software or turned on/off manually via a switch on the PCB. Power is provided via 2x 8-pin connectors and an 800 PSU is recommended. Up to four displays can be connected via 3x DP 2.1 (limited to 2.1 on one or two ports but 1.4a on all three simultaneously) and 1x HDMI 2.1 ports. Dimensions for the 2.8 slot card are 304 x 131 x 56 mm.

The ASRock AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE Challenger 16GB OC is perhaps the best of both worlds. With its dual-fan design, and slightly lower 2293 MHz factory overclock, this card uses less space and power out of the box. It also features 2x 8-pin power connectors but the PSU recomendation is lowered to 750 Watts. The slightly smaller dimensions for the 2.55-slot card are 269 x 130 x 51 mm. Display connectivity is similar as well but ASRock has further specified that its HDMI 2.1 port supports up to FRL 12 Gbps, and the DP 2.1 ports support up to UHBR3 13.5 Gbps. The cooling fans support 0dB for silent operation while under light loads and do not feature ARGB but there are LED light strips on the frame.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
