DOOM, the first-person shooter from id Software that started it all, is coming to Husqvarna’s lineup of Automower NERA robotic lawnmowers as part of a “hell of an update” that will be available for download via the Husqvarna Automower Connect App, Husqvarna has announced. The update was inspired by the response that DOOM x Husqvarna robotic lawnmowers drew during the DreamHack Winter 2023 event, which took place in November.

Husqvarna on how DOOM functions on its mowers:
The game is played by using the robotic lawnmower’s onboard display and controls. Players navigate the game by using the robotic lawnmower’s control knob to turn left and right. Pressing the START button will make you run forward. To fire, players press the control knob.

Playing DOOM (1993) on Husqvarna Automower NERA robotic lawnmowers was a great success at DreamHack Winter 2023, which took place in Sweden November 24-26, 2023. DreamHack, famous for the Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC) LAN party, is one of the largest networks of digital culture and entertainment festivals in the world. At the event in Sweden, Husqvarna arranged a DOOM (1993) Lawn party, probably the first multiplayer competition of the game on a non-gaming device. Qualifications were done using Single Player Time Trial, and the semi-finals and the finals were held on the main stage in the legendary Deathmatch Mode.
