The Last of Us: Part 1, a revamped version of Naughty Dog’s 2013 action-adventure game that was released for Windows PCs in March 2023, will be one of the newest titles to receive support for AMD FSR 3 and its performance-boosting frame generation technology, according to a new tweet that the @amdradeon account shared this week. The news comes on the heels of a new interview with Neil Druckmann, one in which the director of The Last of Us, Uncharted 4, and other hit Naughty Dog games suggests he’s nearly done making blockbuster video games due to the stress involved and how he wants to spend more time with his kids.

AMD on how FSR 3 is expanding:

How The Last of Us: Part 1 has been performing on Radeon RX GPUs, per AMD:

Druckmann on the future of his game career:

  • “I guess that I don’t see myself doing this forever at this scale…it’s just a lot, and it takes a lot out of you. It’s very stressful to manage that many people and multiple studios worldwide.”
  • “……I’m in a…place where my kids are number one. And I know that, especially, my daughter’s now 13, and I feel like life is pulling her away from me. I know that time is limited, so it’s very precious to me, and I don’t want to waste it when they do want to spend time with me, and that’s number one.”
  • “…so, I’m just at a point in my life where it’s like, you start looking at, ‘what’s the end game here? When is it time to call it?’”
  • “…I could see myself transitioning to something that’s like more low-key, and lower stressed, that still allows me to have this creative outlet…but you know, I’ve started thinking about how many more of these games do I have in me, and it’s not that many.”
