Sea of Thieves, the action-adventure pirate game from Rare and Microsoft Studios, is the #1 best-selling pre-order on PlayStation Network in the U.S. despite having been released years ago, in 2018, according to a tweet that the Benji-Sales account shared yesterday. The news follows Microsoft’s announcement from February about how four fan-favorite Xbox games, including Grounded, Hi-Fi RUSH, Pentiment, and Sea of Thieves, would be coming to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation platforms following their years of exclusivity on Xbox consoles and Windows PCs.

Sea of Thieves topping MLB: The Show 24, Dragon’s Dogma II, and more on PSN:

Microsoft on Sea of Thieves:

…the shared world adventure game from Rare, will be coming to PlayStation 5 on April 30 – and will be available to wishlist by PlayStation 5 players starting…February 22. Having built a passionate community of more than 35 million players from around the world, the support of cross play for Xbox, PlayStation and PC will allow players to experience epic pirate adventures with friends on more platforms.

Jack Sparrow, Johnny Depp’s fan-favorite Pirates of the Caribbean character, was introduced as part of a major update that surfaced in 2021:

Split across five incredible Tall Tales packed with secrets and side-quests, Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life sees Captain Jack Sparrow sailing in from beyond the horizon to sweep players into an epic new adventure! Free Jack from his prison and witness the power of the world’s greatest Pirate Treasure, which he just so happens to have stolen, before joining him on an unforgettable quest to stop dark forces from dominating this pirate paradise.
