RDNA 3+, an optimized version of AMD’s modern GPU architecture that originally launched alongside the Radeon RX 7000 Series in December 2022, will be introduced in new Ryzen chips that are slated to be shipping this year, according to new GPU architecture roadmaps that AMD presented during an AI PC summit in Beijing, China this week. Complementing RDNA 3+ for next-generation AMD Ryzen products that include Zen 5 “Strix Point” APUs is XDNA 2, a new iteration of the NPU architecture that AMD designed to drive Generative AI experiences in PCs.

The relevant roadmaps include:

AMD’s new APUs will be available in two flavors, according to coverage online:

  • AMD Ryzen 8050 Strix Point Mono
    • Zen 5 (4nm) Monolithic Design
    • Up To 12 Cores In Hybrid Config (Zen 5 + Zen 5C)
    • 32 MB of Shared L3 cache
    • 35% Faster CPU Versus Phoenix at 50W
    • 16 RDNA 3+ Compute Units
    • On Par With RTX 3050 Max-Q
    • 128-bit LPDDR5X Memory Controller
    • XDNA 2 Engine Integrated
    • ~25 TOPS AI Engine
    • 2H 2024 Launch (Expected)
  • AMD Ryzen 8050 Strix Point Halo
    • Zen 5 Chiplet Design
    • Up To 16 Cores
    • 64 MB of Shared L3 cache
    • 25% Faster CPU Versus 16-Core Dragon Range at 90W
    • 40 RDNA 3+ Compute Units
    • On Par With RTX 4070 Max-Q (90W)
    • 256-bit LPDDR5X Memory Controler
    • XDNA 2 Engine Integrated
    • ~50 TOPS AI Engine
    • 2H 2024 Launch (Expected)

Wccftech noted in its coverage:

The AMD RDNA 3+ GPU architecture for Radeon & Ryzen APUs is not a mystery. It has been showing up in patches for a while now and is referred to as the RDNA 3.5 “GFX115X” series. Officially, this architecture is going to be branded as RDNA 3+ and is simply an optimization of existing RDNA 3 IPs which we have seen on Radeon RX 7000 GPUs and Ryzen 7040/8040 APUs.
