Piotr Nielubowicz, Chief Financial Officer (and Member of the Board) at CD PROJEKT RED, has taken part in a new investor chat, and with it comes the news that the developer behind Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher games seemingly has no plans of bringing microtransactions to its single-player games. That said, the company isn’t ruling out MTX for some of its multiplayer projects, which appear to include at least one upcoming Witcher game.

From the investor chat:

  • Emil: “Will microtransactions be added to future games?”
  • Nielubowicz: “We do not see a place for microtransactions in the case of single-player games, but we do not rule out that we will use this solution in the future in the case of multiplayer projects.”

CDPR’s roadmap includes:

  • Project Sirius (new Witcher game with single-player/multiplayer gameplay)
  • Project Polaris (first game in the new Witcher trilogy)
  • Project Canis Majoris (“full-fledged” Witcher game built on Unreal Engine 5)
  • Project Orion (Cyberpunk 2077 sequel)
  • Project Hadar (new, original IP)

From Nielubowicz’s company profile:

Responsible for the Company’s financial strategy, and for financial and non-financial reporting and legal area. Oversees strategic corporate projects, key investments and Company’s climate and environmental policy.

…we’ve decided to explore something you’ve been asking us for since even before the original release — Cyberpunk 2077 on floppy diskettes! Embrace the ritual of classic game installation using 97,619 3.5” diskettes. Make sure to invite friends over and schedule shifts, as our initial estimations indicate that it might take about 2 months of non-stop diskette-swapping to finish.
