Dragon’s Dogma 2, Capcom’s latest fantasy RPG, has sold over 2.5 million units since its release on March 21, 2024, for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC platforms, Capcom has announced. The milestone comes a few days after Capcom released its first title update for the game, which improves the quality of DLSS and adds an option for players to start a new game when save data already exists, among other changes.

The word from Capcom, including how much the franchise has sold thus far:

Capcom today announced that worldwide sales of Dragon’s Dogma 2 surpassed 2.5 million units. Since the release of the first game in 2012, the series garnered praise worldwide for gameplay features such as its “pawn” adventure companions who can carry out actions on their own, leading the series to exceed 10 million units sold cumulatively.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 patch notes (3/29):

  • Adding the option to start a new game when save data already exists.
  • Changing the number of “Art of Metamorphosis” items available at Pawn Guilds in the game to 99.
  • Making the quest that allows players to acquire their own dwelling (where they can save and rest) available earlier in the game.
  • Improving quality when DLSS SUPER RESOLUTION is enabled.
  • Fixing an issue related to the display of models under some specific settings.
  • Miscellaneous text display issues.
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes.

Players are saying:

  • “This game throws you right into the thick of it – slaying giant monsters and exploring a HUGE world. Speaking of the world and visuals, it’s seriously beautiful.”
  • “You don’t need anything from the online store at all. The game is fun, chaotic and makes you feel like a badass.”
  • “The game is terrific and uncompromising, 100% More Dragon’s Dogma. For me, that’s a godsend. But it is strange how similar it is to DD1.”
  • “DO NOT BUY the micro transaction stuff from the store. There is no need! Game is a lot of fun if your PC can run it. Very CPU intensive.”
  • “no texture pop in. even bg3 has texture pop in everywhere, like most games now. just sayin”

Capcom added:

Coming twelve years after the original, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an action game set in a sprawling open world with a high degree of freedom. The game allows players to enjoy an intricately crafted, all-too-real fantasy setting while providing a taste of adventuring in a group of up to four people all while playing solo thanks to AI-controlled pawn characters that act as travelling companions.
