Ubisoft has confirmed that NVIDIA is the GPU partner for Star Wars Outlaws, having echoed an older article from GeForce.com today about how the new game from Massive Entertainment, an open-world, action adventure based on Disney and Lucasfilm’s space opera franchise, will see greater performance on PC via DLSS 3 and other NVIDIA technologies. The announcement comes on the heels of a statement from Ubisoft that explains out how the Jabba the Hutt experience will be open to all players despite controversy about how some content is locked behind its season pass, which is exclusive to the Gold ($109.99) and Ultimate ($129.99) editions, also available via Ubisoft+ ($17.99/month).

Star Wars Outlaws features:

  • NVIDIA DLSS 3
  • DLSS Super Resolution
  • DLSS Frame Generation
  • NVIDIA Reflex
  • RTX Direct Illumination (RTXDI)
  • Ray-traced Global Illumination lighting

Tobias Carlsson, Star Wars Outlaws Technical Director, said:

  • “Here at Massive Entertainment, worldbuilding is a part of our DNA, and what better way to showcase our craft than creating the first-ever open world Star Wars game.”
  • “Filled with distinct locations across the galaxy’s outer rim, both iconic and new, players will be able to experience the Star Wars underworld like never before.”
  • “DLSS 3 gives us the performance headroom to bring our vision to life and to support additional ray tracing features, helping gamers fully immerse themselves in the adventures of Kay Vess and Nix.”

NVIDIA’s tech in action:

Ubisoft on the Jabba the Hutt controversy:

  • “To clarify, Jabba the Hutt and the Hutt Cartel are one of the main syndicates in Star Wars Outlaws and will be part of the experience for everyone who purchases the game, regardless of edition.”
  • “The ‘Jabba’s Gambit’ mission is an optional, additional mission with the Hutt Cartel along Kay and Nix’s journey across the Outer Rim.”
  • “This mission will be available to those who purchase the season pass or an edition of the game which includes the season pass.”

A synopsis for the game:

Star Wars Outlaws will invite players to experience the Star Wars galaxy like never before through an original story set between Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. As the Galactic Empire relentlessly pursues the final defeat of the Rebel Alliance, the criminal underworld thrives. Fans will play as cunning scoundrel, Kay Vess and her loyal companion Nix, as they attempt one of the greatest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen. Seeking the means to start a new life, players will join Kay and Nix as they fight, steal, and outwit their way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates and join the galaxy’s most wanted.
