ROCCAT is no more as Turtle Beach officially retires the computer accessories brand it acquired in 2019 and merges its product lines under one roof. Last week Turtle Beach unveiled its new Atlas Air wireless open-back PC gaming headset along with what at a glance seemed to be a new keyboard and mouse. As it turns out those new computer accessories are the first to be launched following the retirement of the ROCCAT brand as Turtle Beach switches to exclusively using its own branding on all its products. Someone took notice of the rebranding on Turtle Beach’s Facebook post by commenting “This is a roccat keyboard” to which Turtle Beach replied “A rose by any other name”.

As Turtle Beach officially retires the ROCCAT branding it has posted an FAQ detailing the rebranding of products but also giving direction for owners of ROCCAT computer accessories. The short end of it is that Turtle Beach will continue support for ROCCAT products, orders, and returns. It has also said that new products will be on the way which will continue the Vulcan, Kone, Burst, and Sense product lines but will use Turtle Beach branding. ROCCAT’s social media channels will be renamed and the Swarm software will continue to work but a new version called Swarm II is on the way.

Per ROCCAT FAQ:

What happened to ROCCAT?

We want to bring a greater level of integration to our family of products across console, PC and simulation. We felt that time and resources would be best spent focusing under a single brand and creating a range of products that matter most to gamers.

While we’ll be retiring the ROCCAT brand, many of its iconic product lines like the Vulcan, Kone, Burst and Sense will transition under the Turtle Beach brand. Our commitment to PC products remains as strong as ever and we have several ground-breaking new products to introduce as well as Turtle Beach-branded versions of popular existing ROCCAT products sticking around.

Will Swarm software no longer work?

ROCCAT branded products will still work with Swarm. We have an all-new Swarm II debuting in Spring 2024 for new Turtle Beach-branded PC products as well as for select ROCCAT-branded products (which will also carry on with Turtle Beach branding). Admittedly this can get a little bit confusing, so please visit our DOWNLOADS page for the specific software and/or app details of your product.”

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
