Western Digital and Seagate Implement Price Increases for HDDs and NAND Flash

Seagate and Western Digital, two of the world’s biggest storage providers, have confirmed that they have implemented price increases for some of their products, having sent out formal letters recently that warn customers of increased pricing for high-capacity HDDs and more, including NAND Flash. Supply constraints are reportedly to blame, driven by demand in areas that include the artificial intelligence market.

TrendForce noted in its coverage:

…there is an expectation of ongoing supply shortages for high-capacity HDD products this quarter and potentially throughout the entire year. …HDD prices are expected to continue rising in the second quarter of this year, with increases estimated at 5% to 10%.
