Escape from Tarkov, the popular multiplayer tactical FPS from Battlestate Games, is ready to expand its challenges with an all-new PvE co-op mode, but players who are interested in trying it will need to pay $250 for the privilege, according to a listing for a new edition of the game called the Escape from Tarkov: The Unheard Edition that offers exclusive access to PvE and more, including gameplay benefits (e.g., bigger pockets, unique items). Players who purchased the older Edge of Darkness edition aren’t happy, as that version promised “free access to all subsequent DLCs,” leading customers to believe that it would include all major features.

The Unheard Edition includes:

  • Guaranteed instant access to closed beta
  • Digital copy pre-load
  • Access to PvE co-op mode with persistent progression. Progression will not be reset with wipes.
  • Enhanced stash size (10×72)
  • Unique in-game ID
  • Expanded PMC pockets
  • Increased Fence standing
  • More slots on the Flea Market
  • Unique in-game melee weapon
  • Increased mail retention time
  • Additional background screen option
  • Free access to all subsequent DLCs (Season pass)
  • Access to the Early Test Server (ETS)
  • Additional equipment and resources in stash

Critics are saying:

  • “How the fuck is Offline coop pve not an added DLC?? God damn I feel scammed”
  • “Total slap in the face and honestly my last straw. I have played Tarkov in about a year now and with this news, screw this game and BSG.”
  • “The devs are saying this is a feature and not DLC which is a shitty way of keeping it from EOD owners.”
  • “EoD edition owner here, gave up on this game a long time ago. It’s a unique, stellar game that unfortunately is managed by the worst people this industry could produce.”
  • “$250 to play PvE because the PvP is infested with hackers. Gee thanks no thanks.”

Battlestate on the Escape from Tarkov experience:

The players will have to experience living in the skin of one of the mercenaries who survived the initial stage of the Tarkov conflict. After choosing one of the sides – USEC or BEAR – the player’s character starts to make his way out of the city. Tarkov is sealed off by UN and Russian military, supply chains are cut, communication with operational command is lost, and in these conditions everyone has to make his own choices of what to do and how to get out of the chaos-ridden metropolis.
