Update: A new article from Mobapad suggests that the Switch 2 also features support for 4K resolution.
Original post: The Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo’s next-generation hybrid gaming console, is more of a “Nintendo Switch Pro” rather than a proper successor to the original Switch, which Nintendo launched years ago, in 2017, according to a now-revised Facebook post from Chinese peripheral manufacturer Mobapad that claims the upcoming system merely “represents a conservative evolution in hardware.” Nintendo’s new console will supposedly feature a 1080p screen, an improvement over the Switch’s 720p LCD and OLED displays, as well as full backward compatibility for existing Switch titles.
Nintendo Switch 2 features are said to include:
- “Slightly larger” 1080p resolution display
- Full backward compatibility (physical, digital)
- USB-C port, compatible with “new generation of docks featuring minor design enhancements”
- Support for existing Joy-Con controllers
- Joy-Cons will be easier to dock in handheld mode
