The GeForce RTX 5090, NVIDIA’s next flagship gaming GPU, will not be available as part of the initial launch for the GeForce RTX 50 Series, according to a new tweet from a respected leaker who claims that the GeForce RTX 5080, its weaker sibling, will be released first. The statement was delivered in response to a rumor from earlier this week that claimed NVIDIA would only be launching the GeForce RTX 5090 this year, with the rest of the “Blackwell” GPUs coming later, in 2025.

Rumored specs for the GeForce RTX 5090/5080 include:

  • GeForce RTX 5090
    • Blackwell GPU: GB202
    • Streaming Multiprocessors: 192
    • Memory Bus Width: 512-bit
  • GeForce RTX 5080
    • Blackwell GPU: GB203
    • Streaming Multiprocessors: 96
    • Memory Bus Width: 256-bit

Releasing the $1200 part before the $1800 part is a smart move.

You can catch all the people who can’t wait but need to have the fastest - twice.

Exactly and even more ironic is that the $1200 part will get scalped at $1800 or higher.

I consider it a given that both of these will launch either by the end of the year or Q1 25, given the flood of rumors, but my main concern is whether manufacturers can produce enough of them to keep scalping to a minimum and even make it easy for folks to get one at MSRP.

I'm looking into an overhaul of my machine later this year when new parts maunch and atm I'm more worried about power draw and heat then availability.

Ofc if the gains are not worth it or prices go nut's again, I'll stick with what I have.

I'm taking that approach as well.

Not surprising. That's the way they've usually done it,

More mainstream high end first, followed by halo card later.
