Conclusion

In this DeepCool Assassin 4S review, we strapped the Assassin 4S to our test bench to see how it performed against other air coolers that we’ve tested. With its unique look and stealthy fan, it helps your build look unique compared to your friends while cooling your CPU in the process. So, let’s recap the performance below and see how the Assassin 4S stood up!

Summary of Temperatures

Assassin 4S With AMD Ryzen 7 2700X

In our stock clock testing, the Assassin 4S has a clear sweet spot between 1000 and 1500 RPM for delivering the best blend of performance versus sound generated. The fan is not well optimized to sustain a full processing load at its lowest levels, although, it should be fine for general light use. On the overclocking front, the Assassin 4S did well at or above 1500 RPM, however, it was unable to keep the system stable at 1000 RPM.

Summary of Sound Levels

Assassin 4S Sound Levels with AMD Ryzen 7 2700X

At its slowest fan speed settings up through 1500 RPM, the Assassin 4S easily blended in with the ambient room sound levels and we could not hear a thing. Only at its maximum fan level of 1850 RPM did it become a meaningful contributor to the room’s noise level. These noise levels made it the best acoustic performer of its competitors for this review.

Final Points

The DeepCool Assassin 4S is a large block of a cooler that certainly won’t be sneaking up on any of its targets without casting a shadow. It is positioned as a premium single fan cooler with seven heat pipes, which one ups the IceSLEET G6 Stealth that we looked at a few months ago that has a very similar appearance and target. Overall, it outperforms the G6 Stealth in the categories of performance, sound levels, and pricing (and by outperform, it’s more expensive).

The results speak for themselves, with the Assassin 4S turning in the lowest noise levels across the board and performing very well in our stock configuration tests other than at the 600 RPM level where it falls off the back of the wagon and being the quietest cooler tested as well.

When it comes to price we find that the Assassin 4S is available for $79.99 in e-tail (check our pricing widget for current pricing). If you are prioritizing silence over performance (but, still want reasonable performance), the Assassin 4S is an excellent selection. To get better thermal performance, you’d need to look at a two-fan cooler which increases the overall noise levels.

If you are in the market for a royal single-fan air cooler, the DeepCool Assassin 4S should be nominated to your shortlist.

SUMMARY

The DeepCool Assassin 4S is a single fan CPU cooler targeted at those looking for good performance while keeping the noise levels down. We tested it on our test bench and found that it was a solid thermal performer while being the quietest of the competition. The Assassin 4S is worth a hard look if you're wanting a very quiet cooler with reasonable thermal performance.
