
Disney has pulled out all the stops at its D23 expo and from Star Wars and Marvel updates to many other projects, it has already revealed a lot. Disney Entertainment Showcase D23 2024, aka D23, is happening this weekend from August 9 – 11 and has already had a ton of news regarding not just Star Wars and Marvel updates but also many sequels, new movie trailers, and more. Below is a summary of the many things announced since yesterday.
Star Wars Updates:
- Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
- The first official trailer was released and the show will begin streaming on December 3.
- The Mandalorian & Grogu Updates
- Filming has begun
- Set for May 22, 2026 release

- Said to premiere on Disney+ in March 2025

- Nine Inch Nails are providing the soundtrack
- Official description (via IGN): “Tron: Ares follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.”
- Jared Leto revealed his character is a new Master Control Program that wants to invade the real world and make it his own, permanently.
- Said to be released sometime in 2025
Avatar 3
- Avatar 3 has now been given its official title, Avatar: Fire and Ash, and a new movie poster was also revealed.

- Teaser video for the official start of season 2 production

- Moana 2 new official trailer promoting the November 27, 2024, theatrical release
- Freaky Friday 2 gets its official title: Freakier Friday
- Toy Story 5 announced with a teaser trailer for a summer 2026 release
