A New Virtua Fighter Game Is In Development at Sega

Virtua Fighter, a series of fighting games developed by Sega AM2 that hasn’t seen a new mainline installment since 2006’s Virtua Fighter 5, is finally making a comeback after nearly two decades, according to new statements that Justin Scarpone, Sega’s new global head of transmedia, made during a recent interview that provides insight on why Sega is reviving many of its classic games, including Shinobi and Jet Set Radio, across games, film and, TV. “So we have a suite of titles in development right now that fall into [the] legacy bucket, which we announced last year at The Game Awards; Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage, Shinobi,” Scarpone said before going on to confirm that Sega has “another Virtua Fighter being developed.” See below for a launch trailer for Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown, an enhanced remaster of the original 2006 fighter for PS4 that features updated graphics, new music, and more.
