
Crunchyroll announced that a Ghost of Tsushima: Legends anime series is in development with a planned 2027 release. The announcement was made during a Sony Group press conference where it was revealed that the project would be a collaboration between PlayStation Productions, Sony Music, Aniplex, and Crunchyroll. The Ghost of Tsushima: Legends anime series will be based on the original game and multiplayer co-op spinoff for which it is named. It will be directed by Kamikaze Douga (Star Wars: Visions “The Duel”) and popular manga writer and director Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica) attached to write.

“Crunchyroll announced during Sony Group Corporation’s CES 2025 press conference today that an anime series based on Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima video game and its Ghost of Tsushima: Legends multiplayer experience is officially in production. The anime will exclusively premiere on Crunchyroll in 2027.
Takanobu Mizuno (Star Wars: Visions “The Duel”) will direct the series at Kamikaze Douga, with Gen Urobuchi writing the story composition. The anime will be produced in collaboration with Aniplex, with Sony Music serving as music and soundtrack partner. Additional staff and cast were not announced at the time of the panel.”
