Gameplay Performance – 4K
On this page, we will be testing 4K resolution game performance on the Overclocked NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 FE video card. We will test both 4K native resolution, as well as DLSS Upscaling performance using the “Quality” DLSS preset on NVIDIA GPUs. For comparison, we will be comparing the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 FE, as well as the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER FE, and AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX, which will utilize FSR Upscaling. Games are organized alphabetically, and all games are run with the highest quality settings, Ray Tracing will be tested on a separate page.
Alan Wake 2
In Alan Wake 2 we are running the game at 4K with the “High” quality preset. The Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition does improve upon performance at 4K, allowing a 60FPS average experience, improving upon the non-overclocked card. The overclock improved performance by 7%, and brought performance closer to the GeForce RTX 4090, though still not as fast as it. The Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is 12% slower than the GeForce RTX 4090 FE still, so that is still the performance leader here. Compared to the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER FE the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is 19% faster.
Black Myth: Wukong
Black Myth: Wukong is very demanding at 4K and the “Cinematic” graphics preset. We do see a slight improvement here, the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is just 5% faster than the non-overclocked card at 4K in this game. What’s better, is the DLSS performance. The DLSS performance of the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is 6% faster and does smooth out the performance a bit more at 4K. The Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is, however, 9% slower than the GeForce RTX 4090. Compared to the RTX 4080 SUPER FE the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is 26% faster, big numbers, but ultimately it’s only 8 FPS AVG.
Because this game is so demanding, we lowered the resolution to 1440p and kept the “Cinematic” profile. The Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition allows a playable experience at 65FPS, smoothing it out a bit. The Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is 5% faster than the non-overclocked card. Again, the DLSS performance is a bit better, the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is 7% faster, which is much better. The Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition comes close to the GeForce RTX 4090 performance this time.
Cyberpunk 2077
This is the one and only time that the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition actually performed as fast as the GeForce RTX 4090. In this one game, the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is able to match the performance of the GeForce RTX 4090 FE and even beat it by 5% with DLSS performance. The Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is only 3% faster than the card non-overclocked, but the DLSS performance is a lot better at 8% faster. Compared to the RTX 4080 SUPER the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is 36% faster, so that’s a really nice upgrade in performance in this game.
F1 24
In F1 24 the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is very playable at 190FPS. The Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is 9% faster than the card non-overclocked, which is a very decent uplift. This puts the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition 14% slower than the GeForce RTX 4090 FE. Compared to the RTX 4080 SUPER FE the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is 17% faster.
Horizon Forbidden West
In Horizon Forbidden West, the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition allows a playable experience at 4K, but so did the card non-overclocked as well. The Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is 7% faster than the card non-overclocked. That puts it 10% slower than the GeForce RTX 4090 FE. Compared to the RTX 4080 SUPER the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is 18% faster.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
In Indiana Jones the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is very playable over 100FPS average at 4K with Supreme settings. The Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is 7% faster than the card non-overclocked. This puts it just 5% under the RTX 4090 FE in this game. The Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is 23% faster than the RTX 4080 SUPER FE.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
In Stalker 2 overclocking the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 FE definitely helps smooth out performance, bringing it over 60FPS average at 4K. Overclocking the GeForce RTX 5080 FE improved performance by 6%. This puts it 7% behind the RTX 4090 FE in this game. Compared to the RTX 4080 SUPER FE the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is 19% faster.
Star Wars Outlaws
In Star Wars Outlaws, the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition helps performance at 4K, because this game is very demanding at the highest settings. Even overclocked, though, the Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition isn’t giving us an average of 60FPS, you’ll probably want to enable DLSS in this game to get performance into the 90’s range. The Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is 9% faster than the card non-overclocked, which is a good uplift. This puts it 13% behind the RTX 4090 FE. The Overclocked GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition is 23% faster than the RTX 4080 SUPER FE.
