Star Wars Celebration 2025 wrapped up this weekend in Japan, where it was revealed by the actor Ahmed Best, who originally played Jar Jar in the prequels, that the Gungan has taken a liking to the Dark Side. After years of theories expressed online and some hilarious Robot Chicken appearances, the world is finally going to see the hapless character reveal his true colors in an upcoming Fortnite event. The Galactic Battle begins on May 2, which will span across five events leading up to a live in-game narrative moment, treating players to a front-row seat as the fate of the galaxy is determined.
While Star Wars fans very much derided the character, it has seemingly come into its own in recent years as comedic spoofs have removed much of the dogma once associated with its introduction in the prequels. Since Jar Jar’s debut, theories that his imbecilic antics and constant clumsiness were nothing more than an act hiding a much more sinister side, in short, a Sith overlord who was hiding in plain sight and simply waiting for the right opportunity to take over. So, Fortnite players, prepare yourselves as the evil Gungan is on his way to take over a galaxy near you in a five-week schedule featuring overarching themes.
