HUNGER is an upcoming online co-op set in Napoleonic Europe following events where a plague has unleashed unspeakable horrors. Developer and publisher GOOD FUN CORPORATION has blended a number of elements for its PvPvE extraction shooter by mixing in RPG, crafting, quests, team building, and, of course, brutal melee combat. Comparisons to Hunt: Showdown are unavoidable, but the game also has some similarity, at least in appearance, to Metro Exodus/S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 and perhaps a touch of Resident Evil Village.

In the unforgiving World After the End, your survival and prosperity are intertwined with the denizens of the Chateau – a broad array of quest givers, shopkeepers, stashkeepers, bounty hunters and other Living. Completing quests and building your reputation broadens your access to new locations, abilities, characters, weapons, gear, and vital resources.

The developers state that HUNGER is, at its core, a first-person RPG. Players will engage in extraction loops to progress through levels 1-100 and have to complete quests along the way while mastering skills. Crafting will also include specialization to create items for the player or teammates, or can be sold at the in-game marketplace. Something veteran PvP/PvPvE players might be interested in is that HUGNER does not use Wipe mechanics, meaning that when a player respawns after being killed, they will retain their weapons/items and current progress. No release date has been set yet, but the game is said to be entering its early access phase soon on Steam.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
