The cast for Amazon’s upcoming God of War streaming series is shaping up to be an impressive roster of veteran TV, movie, and video game actors. It’s been two years since word of the series, which is said to focus on Kratos and his son Atreus, was announced. Production for the show is expected to begin soon, and so most of the major parts have now been cast. Cory Barlos, director of the 2018 entr,y which went on to sell over 23 copies globally, will executive produce with Frederick E.O. Toye (The Boys, Fallout Series, Terminal List, Shogun) directing the first two episodes. Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica and many Star Trek shows/episodes) is helming the series.

- Kratos – Ryan Hurst: In a seemingly ironic twist, Hurst (Sons of Anarchy), who voiced Thor in the last video game, will take on the role famously voiced by Christopher Judge.
- Mimir– Alastair Duncan: It was just revealed that Alastair will reprise his role from the video game of the beheaded character who aided Kratos on occasion, while also providing narration to various parts of the story
- Odin – Mandy Patinkin: Veteran of film, stage, and television, actor Mandy Patinkin will portray the elder Norse God. The award-winning actor could end up stealing the show from his castmates with his strong onscreen presence, as many still remember him as Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride.
- Thor – Ólafur Darri Ólafsson: The God of Thunder will be played by Ólafsson, who is known for his work in The Secret of Walter Mitty, Severance, NOS4A2, and The Deep.
- Heimdal – Max Parker: Parker (Boots, Vampire Academy) has been cast as the guarding Norse God.
- Brok/Brokkr – Danny Woodburn: Another veteran of film, stage, and television, Mr. Woodburn will portray the dwarf blacksmith
- Sindri – Jeff Gulka: Jeff (Stan Helsing, Air Bud) will take on the role of Brok’s brother. The two have an estranged relationship in the video games and are credited for creating many of the enchanted weapons used by the gods.
- Sif/Phoebe – Teresa Palmer: Palmer (A Discovery of Witches, Warm Bodies) will transform into the warrior goddess for the upcoming series.
Of course, noticeable absences from this list include Kratos’ son, Atreus, and his wife, Faye/Lauffey. There have been rumors, but official word ought to be forthcoming soon since the project is expected to enter production in Vancouver soon. Amazon MGM Studios has not set a release date for God of War, but it’s possible we could see it launch sometime in 2027.
