ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition Video Card Review

Gameplay Performance

In the gaming performance below, we are comparing performance at 1080p to represent a more reasonable and attainable gameplay experience goal with these graphics cards. At 1080p, we can see, without bottlenecks, how performance compares and the kind of gameplay experience one can achieve with higher playable framerates.

For the video card comparisons, we are including an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB FE model, this is the 8GB model, not 16GB. We are also including a GeForce RTX 4070 12GB FE video card, for comparison’s sake. On the AMD side, we are including a factory-overclocked XFX Speedster QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black Edition 12GB, and a factory-overclocked SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 7600 XT 16GB video card.

Alan Wake 2

In Alan Wake 2, we are running the game at 1080p with the highest game settings. The new ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition allows a playable gameplay experience at the highest game settings at 1080p, delivering a very buttery smooth 82FPS average. This puts the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition at a 17% performance advantage over the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, and 37% over the Radeon RX 7600 XT. It does perform under the Radeon RX 7700 XT by 7% and under the GeForce RTX 4070 by 11%.

When we overclock the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition, we see a pretty big performance increase of 9%. With this performance increase, the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition is now slightly edging out the Radeon RX 7700 XT, and almost as fast as the GeForce RTX 4070, with only 3% separating them now.

Black Myth: Wukong

Black Myth: Wukong is very demanding at cinematic quality, too demanding for these GPUs, so we dropped the game down to the “High” graphics quality preset for this round of testing since it was what needed to be playable. The ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition allows a playable gameplay experience at 1080p and “High” at a smooth 78FPS, which is great for this game.

At this performance level, the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition is 18% faster than the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, and even 5% faster than the Radeon RX 7700 XT. It’s just 5% slower than the GeForce RTX 4070 in fact. When overclocked, the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition improves performance by 8% and it now actually exceeds GeForce RTX 4070 performance by 2%!

Cyberpunk 2077

In Cyberpunk 2077, at 1080p and “Ultra” settings, the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition aces Cyberpunk 2077 with high framerates well above 100FPS at 128FPS average. This puts the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition at a large 25% faster than the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and even ahead of the Radeon RX 7700 XT by 4%. It is just under the GeForce RTX 4070 in fact, in performance, only 2% difference. Overclocking the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition improves performance by 7%. With it overclocked, it is now faster than the GeForce RTX 4070 by 4%.

Horizon Forbidden West

In Horizon Forbidden West, the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition is very fast at 93FPS average, allowing a more than playable experience. With the 16GB of VRAM, this game runs much smoother than the 8GB GeForce RTX 4060 Ti. The ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition is also 29% faster than the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, so that is quite good in this game. At this performance level, it is on par with the AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT and sits under the GeForce RTX 4070 by 10%. Overclocking the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition improves performance by 8% and brings it closer to GeForce RTX 4070 performance, with only a 3% difference.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

In Indiana Jones, we encountered some major issues on video cards with 8GB of VRAM, specifically the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB FE model. On that video card, we could not run any higher than “Medium” settings in the game; anything above this would cause the game to crash with an ‘Out of VRAM’ error message. Therefore, in our first comparison here, we set the game to “Medium” so we could see how much faster the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition is over the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB model.

At “Medium” settings at 1080p, the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition allows a more than playable gameplay experience at 143FPS average. The ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition is 13% faster than the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and 7% slower than the GeForce RTX 4070. When we overclock the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition performance increases by 9%, and it now becomes faster than the GeForce RTX 4070 by 1.4%.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Graph

Removing the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB FE model from testing so that we can run higher game settings, in the graph above, we are now running the “Supreme” graphics quality setting. The ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition is very capable of running this game in “Supreme” graphics quality thanks to its 16GB VRAM buffer, it has the GPU performance to pull it off, and with sufficient VRAM it is capable of allowing above 100FPS smooth gameplay at 1080p. When we overclock the video card, performance increases by 8% and it is much closer to the GeForce RTX 4070 in performance.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

In Kingdom Come Deliverance II, the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition allows a very playable experience at 85FPS at 1080p and the highest settings. This puts it 20% faster than the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti in this game, as well as the Radeon RX 7700 XT. It is only 5% behind the GeForce RTX 4070. When we overclock it performance increases by 9% and now it is 4% faster than the GeForce RTX 4070.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl

In Stalker 2, the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition allows a very smooth and playable experience at 71FPS at EPIC settings at 1080p. This puts it 14% faster than the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and the Radeon RX 7700 XT. It is 8% slower than the GeForce RTX 4070. When we overclock the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition, performance increases by 8% and this brings it up to parity with the GeForce RTX 4070 performance in this game.

Star Wars Outlaws

In Star Wars Outlaws, the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition allows a playable experience at the highest settings at 1080p at 75FPS. This makes it 10% faster than the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT. It is well under the GeForce RTX 4070 though by 14%. Overclocking the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition improves performance by 8%, but it is still under the GeForce RTX 4070 by 7%.

SUMMARY

The ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition features ASUS's top-end SKU, with a factory overclock, 16GB of GDDR7 VRAM and the TUF Gaming build and design. This custom video card has great cooling that keeps it way cool, and quiet. ASUS has given it extra power headroom for enthusiast tweaking, and built this card out to appeal to enthusiasts and gamers. The design is striking, and overclocked it can really perform. The 16GB of VRAM is appropriate, and well suited for the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti GPU. The ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC Edition does have a very high MSRP, and that could be the only thing you'll want to ponder in your decisions, if you can justify it, or not.
