Power and Temp and Clock Frequency

On this page, we’ll look at the overall board power, GPU temp, memory temps, and GPU clock frequency over time.

Power

Board Power

The TDP of the Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition is 190W. In our testing, we achieved a total board power of 185W while gaming in a real-world scenario. Compared to the other video cards, this does use more power than the GeForce RTX 4060 by 47%, and more than the Radeon RX 7600 by 14%, but less than the Radeon RX 7600 XT by 10%. Considering the Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition is faster compared to the Radeon RX 7600 XT, its efficiency isn’t looking too bad, and in performance, it was also faster than the GeForce RTX 4060, but nowhere close to 47% faster, so efficiency there isn’t looking as good.

Temperature

GPU Temperature

The GPU temperature of the Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition was around 70c, and this was not the hottest GPU in this lineup. The Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition’s temps were on par with the custom-cooled SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 7600 XT, and cooler than the reference model Radeon RX 7600. The Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition did run much warmer than the custom-cooled ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060, but that card is also using a lot less power, so keep that in mind. Overall, the cooler on the Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition seems efficient, and is made very well, it keeps the GPU very cool at a quiet noise level for the power it is putting out.

Memory Temperature

The memory temperatures on the Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition were excellent, this cooler does an amazing job keeping that 12GB GDDR6 cool at 68c. The two AMD GPU cards ran their memory much hotter, even though the SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 7600 XT is a custom-cooled card, its memory ran very warm, and the Radeon RX 7600 was really hot just overall, but it is a smaller video card.

GPU Clock Frequency

Default GPU Frequency

The default clock speed of the Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition is set at 2670MHz. The Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition does have the ability to boost the clock speed over the default clock speed setting based on cooling and power conditions. In our testing, we found that the Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition ran at a consistent 2850MHz in games, and it was very consistent, as you can see with this blue line staying at 2850MHz for the entire duration. It isn’t often we see such a consistent straight line of performance, but there you go. At 2850MHz, the Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition is operating 6.7% (180MHz) above its rated boost frequency.

GPU-Z Screenshots

We can see above that the Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition is running at a GPU Voltage of 1.015V peak, and 185W with a fan speed of 1443 RPM. The GPU Chip Power Draw was 138.7W, and for comparison, the GeForce RTX 4060 GPU Chip Power Draw was 78.2W.

SUMMARY

The Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition is a $249 MSRP card from Intel, based on its Battlemage GPU it is aimed at 1080p and some 1440p gaming. Backed with 12GB of GDDR6 VRAM for under $300, it offers a smooth gameplay experience using high game settings at 1080p, and medium game settings at 1440p. It competes and rivals with the GeForce RTX 4060, and outperforms the Radeon RX 7600 XT. It has surprisingly good Ray Tracing performance, and holds its own in the latest games that require Ray Tracing. As a budget oriented, value card, it's a recommendation at its MSRP.
