Overclocking XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT White Triple Fan Gaming Edition

XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT White Gaming Edition: Adrenalin software OC

For the overclocking trials, we utilized AMD Adrenalin software under the Performance tab. As we have found in the RDNA4 version, there is a limited choice of manual tuning adjustments. Namely, we can adjust the GPU Maximum Frequency, Memory Frequency, Power Level, and fan cycle if desired. We can undervolt the GPU if desired as well, but cannot increase GPU voltage.

Above is pictured the final overclocking settings we achieved. We did slightly adjust the Fan Cycle to just 55 to 60% in the operating range temperatures of the testing. All our games performed flawlessly at these settings, and no issues were encountered. The cooling was never an issue, and the fans were very quiet at 55% and silent at default settings used in default clock comparison run-throughs. Maximum settings were: GPU Frequency +375MHz, Memory Frequency +232MHz. Power limit was increased to the maximum of +10%, and the GPU was undervolted -20.

After reading a number of our AMD Radeon RX 9000 series reviews, you may recall that our overclocking settings are simply a maximum that may be reached under proper game settings and resolution. For this reason, we demonstrate by using two different game benchmarks, Cyberpunk 2007 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

First of all, the factory Boost clock is set at 2970MHz. In Cyberpunk, we boost to 2919MHz in default and 2990MHz overclocked. In KCD2, we boost to 3020MHz at default and 3095MHz overclocked. The dynamic is well demonstrated here. In Cyberpunk, we don’t reach the factory setting at default and gain only 20MHz when overclocked. (.5% if you’re keeping score).

In KCD2, we gain 50MHz at default over the factory setting and 125MHz overclocked. (4%) Here we can see that the response of the video card is not solely related to our input, but also to the game settings and dynamics. All in all, we don’t get much gain from overclocking. It seems that this video card is already pushed pretty hard by XFX from the factory. We will forge onward to see how this plays out in real-time gaming.

SUMMARY

This article reviews the XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT White Triple Fan Gaming Edition video card. This is a very well built card with a simple design appeal. The cooling is excellent and quiet. Gaming performance is quite good in plain Raster, trading blows evenly with the more expensive RTX 5070 Ti. The card is not as successful in ray tracing enabled games. At 1440p gaming this video card would be an excellent choice, and it offers a better value proposition compared to more expensive Radeon RX 9070 XT's, and the more expensive GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, this is simply a better value for 1440p gaming.
