Conclusion

Today, we took a look at the Swift version of XFX’s Radeon RX 9070 XT offering, the XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT White Triple Fan Gaming Edition for $599.99 MSRP. If you are interested, we have also looked at the next higher-up tier video card, the XFX Quicksilver AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Magnetic Air Edition version, as well.

The XFX Swift Radeon RX 9070 XT represents XFX’s MSRP-priced AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT flagship offering. It is a pure white, clean design with excellent build and cooling qualities that make it a standout. This being an MSRP-priced card, it comes with the standard AMD reference clock speeds and has 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM. The thermal elements of the video card are described by XFX as “good”, but our testing seems to demonstrate that this is an understatement.

Game Performance

We put the XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT White Triple Fan Gaming Edition through its paces, focusing on the 1440p gameplay experience, using both raster games, games with “always on” ray tracing, as well as turning on extra ray tracing features, and we included upscaling as well. The XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT White Gaming Edition and the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti VANGUARD SOC LAUNCH EDITION were each faster in 4 games. There was one draw. Those results are about as evenly matched as you can get.

On average, only 2 FPS separates these two video cards across all 9 games. Seven of the games were playable in native resolution, and all nine games were playable with upscaling. The end result is really a toss-up. There were a couple of games where one card was better by an exaggerated FPS versus the other, but overall, this was very even. Of the four games with “always-on” ray tracing, the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti VANGUARD SOC LAUNCH EDITION was the better of the two cards by a three-to-one result.

When we enabled ray-traced options in the four games we tested, there was a distinct effect for both video cards, but not the good kind. Only the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti VANGUARD SOC LAUNCH EDITION could manage a native resolution playable, and only in one game. Both cards were playable in two games, upscaled, and the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti VANGUARD SOC LAUNCH EDITION was playable in all four games, upscaled. The ray tracing performance with the XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT White Gaming Edition still leaves much to be desired.

Overclocking, Power & Temp

The XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT White Triple Fan Gaming Edition is clocked at the AMD reference clock speed of 2400MHz game clock, and 2970MHz boost clock. In our default testing, the video card managed to reach between 2900MHz-2950MHz while gaming, so it was able to reach the boost clock, but it did not sustain that over time without some overclocking.

Overclocking this video card was very simple work. Partly due to the reduced setting choices in Adrenalin software. Overall, we managed to boost the performance in our benchmarks by about 4% up into the 2950MHz-3040MHz range. We demonstrated that the performance of the overclock and Boost clock is game-dependent, with a wide range of performance results. It seems that the XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT White Gaming Edition is running about as hard as it can at reference clocks, as overclocking adds very little. It may be best in this case to simply use the card at default.

Certainly, it is not the cooling holding the card back. Temperatures are excellent, and the fans are very quiet. The cooling is pretty good for a “good” heatsink. The XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT White Triple Fan Gaming Edition only hit 54c GPU temp at default, which kept it very cool indeed, and overclocked, it performed extremely well. Even on power, the XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT White Triple Fan Gaming Edition was in the lower 300W range.

Final Points

This article evaluated the XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT White Triple Fan Gaming Edition video card, with an MSRP of $599.99. We were impressed by the overall fit and finish of this card, even with it being the lowest-tier model XFX has in that range. That said, the XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT White Triple Fan Gaming Edition is still a well-built video card with custom Ghost Thermal cooling, and triple-fan design, LED lighting, and this one is in White.

The design is simple, and the functionality of the cooling is excellent. This video card performs well, and that’s about all you can ask. In plain gaming, the XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT White Gaming Edition trades evenly with an overclocked, more expensive, premium MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti VANGUARD SOC LAUNCH EDITION. In ray tracing-enabled games, the outcome is unfortunately not as good. At 1440p, the XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT White Gaming Edition should be on a very short list of considerations. It also has 16GB of VRAM for 1440p gaming, which is needed. If you aren’t in the mood for a white aesthetic, it is also offered in black.

SUMMARY

This article reviews the XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT White Triple Fan Gaming Edition video card. This is a very well built card with a simple design appeal. The cooling is excellent and quiet. Gaming performance is quite good in plain Raster, trading blows evenly with the more expensive RTX 5070 Ti. The card is not as successful in ray tracing enabled games. At 1440p gaming this video card would be an excellent choice, and it offers a better value proposition compared to more expensive Radeon RX 9070 XT's, and the more expensive GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, this is simply a better value for 1440p gaming.
