Disney and Epic Games have partnered to bring the Fantastic Four over to Fortnite in a time-limited bundle featuring multiple skins and accessories. While Fortnite might not be as big of a cash-making juggernaut as it once was, it still tops the list of online multiplayer games as number one when it comes to player counts, with Counter-Strike being a close second. Both games have a rough average of around 1 million players per day across the globe, and depending on the source, Fortnite is said to have had a grand total between 450 million and 650 million registered players since debuting in 2018. Stat junkies can get their fill here, here, and here.

Meanwhile, Matt Shakman‘s Fantastic Four: First Steps hit theaters this weekend, where it shattered records for previous FF movies but also very nearly beat James Gunn’s Superman with global ticket sales reported (via The Hollywood Reporter) at $218 million vs $220 million for DC Comics’ iconic hero. That being said, it’s a no-brainer for Disney and Epic Games to cash in on the current popularity of the Fantastic Four. A trailer made in a similar retro-style for the theatrical release was produced to show off the new bundle.

Lego fans are in for a treat as well, since the cosmetic bundle also includes a Lego version of the team. Priced at 3,600 V-Bucks, which converts to ~$23, the bundle provides a significant discount over purchasing all items separately, which total out at 9,600 V-Bucks or roughly $56. Those interested can purchase it from the Fortnite shop, where it will remain available until August 4.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
