A new three-week limited-time event is coming to Apex Legends, where players will be able to take smackdown to a whole other level. Spanning from August 19 to September 9, the Galactic Games will introduce a number of changes to Wildcard so that players can use a new weapon, abilities, unlock new skins, and more in the Outland.

“Wildcard has been updated with a new, aptly named, Wild Card mechanic—giving you a chance to change the tides with new craftables and limited-time variants for the event.”

-EA

“You’ll have a chance to unlock a universal melee variant of the Bat alongside all-star skins for fan favorite Legends and Legendary skins for the R-301, Flatline, and more as you progress through the event. It’s yeet or be yeeted from August 19 to September 9, 2025.”

-EA

Prepare to yeet or be yeeted when the Grand Slam Bat becomes available for everyone in the Wildcard. With increased melee damage and added knock back, along with a power-up attack that affects multiple opponents after the third successful hit, the Grand Slam Bat is the perfect choice for those wanting to make a big impact on many at once. Wild Cards have been added to Replicators, giving players a chance to add more abilities as they progress through rounds. Starting with the first three rounds, players can add the following abilities to their slots.

  • Mad Dash: gain a dash ability
  • Recharger: recharge shields while running
  • Personal Space: melee knockback is increased
  • Hard Hitter: melee damage is increased
  • Status Report: reveal enemy locations on knock
  • Wall Runner: gain the ability to Wall-Run
  • Speedy Charge: Tactical and Ultimate abilities charge faster

Once players finish their daily events, they can also head over to the reward shop to redeem points and check their progress. Limited skins for Seer, Sparrow, Gibraltar, and other characters can be had during the Galactic Games as well. All items will become available via drops for a limited time during Galactic Games Event Packs that will include one special plus two standard items, and EA has said there will be no duplicates. So prepare to chase opponents anywhere, including running up walls, to give them a good whack with the new R5, and if you want to know more, feel free to check out the official announcement here.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
