Battlefield REDSEC arrives today, following testing back in September for the new online battle royale mode featuring up to 100 players per match. The teams over at Electronic Arts are probably still celebrating the massively successful launch of Battlefield 6, which saw the latest entry breaking all-time franchise sales records and having the largest concurrent player count, but are still committed to keeping the momentum going with Battlefield REDSEC released within a matter of hours. EA has not yet officially revealed the details for REDSEC, but here are the details shared for the previous testing cycle.

  • Map: Battlefield is no stranger to epic maps, and this all-new map has been built for the Battle Royale experience. It features a diverse array of tactical Points of Interest, each with distinct layouts and themes that offer unique gameplay opportunities.
  • Vehicles: Players can find common transport vehicles around the map and even unlock powerful armored vehicles to turn the tide of battle. The intent is to offer more ways for players to traverse the map early on in a match and to create interesting combined arms action in the process.
  • Tactical Destruction: Destruction will be everywhere in this mode. From creating pathways through walls to toppling buildings, we look forward to seeing players’ ingenuity with destruction and how they use it to defeat their opponents.
  • Squadplay: For this test, each match will feature 100 players, organized into 25 four-player squads, fighting to be the last one standing. Communicating with your squad through pings, text, or VOIP aims to boost the experience and enhance their tactical options.
  • Second chances: Between the Support class revives and Mobile Redeploy options, there are multiple tools to keep your squad in the fight.

Twitch Drops

Bonus skins and items can be had via a series of Twitch drops for those who have linked their EA and Twitch accounts. This Season 1 Battlefield 6 content can be obtained from October 28 at 8 a.m. PT to November 4 at 11:59 p.m. PT by watching their favorite Battlefield REDSEC creator. Content is rewarded according to how long a stream is viewed and will be placed in the user’s Drops Inventory, where it must be claimed within 24 hours and can then be used both in Battlefield 6 and REDSEC.

“To celebrate the launch of our free-to-play experience Battlefield REDSEC, available alongside Season 1 of Battlefield 6, we are once again bringing back our Twitch Drop Campaign.”

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
