LG is planning to showcase its latest ultraportable, lightweight LG gram Pro laptops at CES, which utilize a new material composition it has developed. A major complaint about laptops with larger screens is their weight, which can be attributed to components such as the GPU, battery, chassis materials, and, of course, the panel, but LG’s engineers are constantly at work trying to refine designs to reduce device weight. According to the electronics manufacturer, it has succeeded in developing a new material, which it calls Aerominum, to aid in this goal.
“This innovative material reduces the laptop’s weight while reinforcing its structural strength. The resulting chassis is built for life on the move, offering improved scratch resistance, meeting military-grade standards and ensuring long-lasting resilience for everyday use. Aerominum’s aeroplate structure and refined atelier brushing deliver a sleek metallic finish, elevating the design without adding bulk.”

LG has announced two new LG gram Pro models in its press release, which it will debut at CES 2026, and so for now, a limited amount of specification details have been shared. First is the LG gram Pro 17 (17Z90UR) that is said to be the world’s lightest 17-inch laptop featuring an NVIDIA RTX GPU. This laptop is geared toward productivity with its WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600) LCD display and is capable of some gaming thanks to its NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 8 GB GDDR7 GPU.
Next is the more traditional form factor 16-inch model, for those on the go. The LG gram Pro 16 (16Z9OU) is said to be the lightest in its class and will be one of various select Lg gram Pro models to include dual AI features. LG says that the LG gram Pro 16 will have both hardware and online-based AI support with its Intel Core Ultra processors. This 16-inch model also gets a WQXGA+ (2,880 x 1,800) OLED display to provide a visual experience with deep colors and contrast.
“By fusing this breakthrough material with our advanced dual AI and security solutions, our highly intelligent and extremely portable new laptops empower users to work, create and connect seamlessly wherever they are.”

Weren't Surface laptops a Magnesium alloy for a bit when they first came out?
One of my favorite shows from a while back was Better off Ted, and this totally reminds me of something Phil and Lem created and then brought up to a meeting where names were thrown at the wall for marketing.
Pretty sure everyone is doing something like this because my last two gaming laptops were said to be made of plastic, but I'd swear that some of the chassis has a metallic feel to it.
I can't even figure out how you would pronounce that
Arrow - mine - um ?
Arrow - min - um ?
doesn't exactly sound right
A - row - me - num ?
Not sure you can stretch Arrow to A-row, but maybe this is it?
Arrow - mini - um would have at least sounded like a metal
you just add vowels, like they do in the UK to aluminum by calling it aluminium
minuminuminuminum said every kid the first time they heard it.
Ah yes magneisum alloy.. when you absolutely positively want to have a laptop sized hole in your foundation because of a housefire.
Oooh oooh, I'll play ...
Air - oh - min - um
Does it come with BYO RAM and SIYO GPU?
