Too lazy to drive your lemon to the post office or UPS Store? Uber has it covered, as the company, best known for its ride-hailing service, is launching a new feature that allows customers to call a courier to pick up as many as five prepaid packages and drop them off at their local post office, UPS, or FedEx location. The new service, appropriately dubbed “Return a Package,” is available now in 4,950+ cities throughout the United States and costs as cheap as $3 for Uber One members.

Uber Return a Package Feature

  • Tap a Button, Return a Package: With our new “Return a Package” feature, you can have a courier pick up your prepaid and sealed packages – up to five at a time –  and drop them off at a local post office, UPS, or FedEx.
  • Live Tracking: Customers can track their package in real-time in the Uber app. The courier will send a visual confirmation or photo of the receipt when the drop-off is completed.
  • Uber One Members Save BIG: Return a Package is a flat $5 fee—or only $3 for Uber One members.
  • Availability: Return a Package is available starting today in the Uber and Uber Eats apps for customers in 4,950+ cities throughout the United States, including Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, San Francisco and Washington DC.

According to research from the National Retail Federation, 79% of shoppers under 30 think mail returns are somewhat or very annoying. And with the busy holiday shopping and gifting season fast approaching, we know returns are inevitable – whether it’s the wrong size, the wrong color, or the wrong gift idea entirely.
