Arm’s market share in Windows is going to grow significantly in the years ahead, and not only that, the number could be better than 50% in as little as the next five years, according to the latest statements shared by Rene Haas, Arm’s CEO since February 2022. Haas’s comments came as Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon took the stage with Microsoft, Dell, and other industry leaders at COMPUTEX today, suggesting that his company’s new Snapdragon X Elite chips, which already deliver what is said to be multiple-day battery life, unparalleled performance per watt, and more for Copilot+ laptops, are coming to desktop PCs.

From a report:

  • “‘Arm’s market share in Windows – I think, truly, in the next five years, it could be better than 50%,’ CEO Rene Haas told Reuters in an interview.”
  • “‘They’ve (Microsoft) gone way beyond anything they had (in developer tools) and they really picked it up in the last couple of years,’ Haas said. ‘They are very, very much committed from a software standpoint.'”
  • “Its flagship Windows operating system will now run on chips designed by Arm, whose technology powered the rise of smartphones.”
  • “Chips made by Intel have dominated the PC industry for decades and if the Arm push succeeds, it would reorder the market.”
