Avowed, the new action RPG from first-party Xbox studio Obsidian Entertainment (Fallout: New Vegas, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords), will include an additional camera option that allows players to experience the game in a third-person rather than first-person perspective, according to a new episode of the Xbox Podcast that Microsoft published yesterday, featuring new information from Avowed Game Director Carrie Patel. The game may be released on November 12 for Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, cloud, and as a day-one title on Xbox Game Pass, according to a blog post that Obsidian shared on its official website this week but later edited.

Xbox writes:

  • “…Avowed Game Director Carrie Patel joined hosts Malik Prince and Tina Amini to dive deeper into the gameplay players can expect from the upcoming fantasy action RPG.”
  • “We got to see a lot more of the game…revealing more of the Emerald Stair region, showing us two possible approaches to the same quest, the game’s Party Camp, upgrade systems, an optional 3rd-person viewpoint, and more.”
  • “…the game’s optional 3rd person mode – players can choose to play in 1st or 3rd person perspectives – and your choices will be displayed prominently on them too.”
  • “Your character is a godlike – someone who has been touched by one of the gods that reside in the world of Eora – and it shows, quite literally.”
