AMD Ryzen 9000 Series Launches on July 31, including Ryzen 7 9700X That’s Faster than Ryzen 7 5800X3D in Gaming

The Ryzen 9000 Series, a new lineup of desktop processors that will be some of the very first to feature AMD’s new Zen 5 cores, will officially be available starting from Wednesday, July 31, the company has confirmed. According to a slide that AMD shared, the Ryzen 7 9700X, a 8C/16T processor, will deliver faster gaming performance than the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, one of AMD’s most popular CPUs, despite having a lower TDP (65 vs. 105 watts).

Overclocking enhancements for the 9000 Series include:

  • New AGESA supporting up to DDR5-8000
  • New Memory Overclocking on-the-fly, and Memory Optimized Performance Profile features
  • Memory OC enabled on all AM5 consumer chipsets
  • JEDEC support for DDR5-5600
