The PlayStation VR2 App, a new app that allows PS VR2 users to play Steam’s expansive library of thousands of VR games on PC, including Half-Life: Alyx, Fallout 4 VR, War Thunder, and other fan favorites, is now available to download on Steam, Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced. The free download arrives one day ahead of the official release of the PS VR2 PC adapter, which, while lacking an included DisplayPort cable, will be available for purchase tomorrow at $59.99/€59.99/£49.99.
Early players are saying:
- “OH MY LORD THIS IS PSVR 2 on PC. Jeez Holy Potato. I’m selling my quest pro for this masterpiece.”
- “The headset works very well and the adapter is not actually mandatory if you have a gpu that supports virtuallink, like the rx 6000 series or rtx 20 series.”
- “Very cool idea and its an extension to people who have bought a psvr2. Because of this i may sell my quest 2 for it.”
- “Might update the review when it decides to work but it seems like many people (including me) with an adapter cannot get past the update screen of the app, it just won’t quit updating.”
The new app lets players:
- “Set up your PlayStation VR2 on your PC.”
- “Update the firmware for your PlayStation VR2 headset and PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers.”
- “Adjust settings for your PlayStation VR2 from the SteamVR dashboard, including setting your play area and screen brightness.”

PlayStation’s Yasuo Takahashi on how the experience will differ for PC users:
PS VR2 was designed from the ground up specifically for PS5 – so you’ll notice that some key features, like HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, and haptic feedback (other than rumble), are not available when playing on PC. However, other high-fidelity and sensory immersion features of PS VR2 are supported, including 4K visuals (2000 x 2040 per eye), 110-degree field of view, finger touch detection, and see-through view, as well as foveated rendering (without eye tracking) and 3D Audio in supported games.
