MSI Confirms 13% Multi-Core Performance Increase for Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X “Zen 5” CPUs with 105-Watt TDP Mode in Cinebench R23 as AMD Updates Warranty to Cover New Setting

The Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X, two of AMD’s first “Zen 5” desktop processors, can deliver 13% improved multi-core performance in Cinebench R23 thanks to a new 105-watt TDP option that will be introduced as part of the new AGESA BIOS PI 1.2.0.1 update that’s coming to 600 Series motherboards, MSI has announced. The new setting, which will reportedly be officially ushered in via AGESA 1.2.0.2, is covered by AMD’s warranty, according to information that has been shared online.

MSI writes:

  • “MSI is excited to announce the upcoming release of the AMD AGESA BIOS PI 1.2.0.1 update, designed to enhance power delivery performance for the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X processors on our 600 Series motherboards.”
  • “This new BIOS will include an option that allows users to increase the original CPU TDP to 105W on these two Ryzen processors, providing an extra boost in performance.”
  • “With this new feature allowing the TDP of the new Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X processors to be increased to 105W, as seen with the picture below, performance actually gain at approximately of 13% compared to the original 65W TDP.”
