Matt Damon, the American actor, film producer, and screenwriter partially known for his role in the Jason Bourne films and having won an Oscar in the Best Original Screenplay category for co-writing 1997’s Good Will Hunting, is in talks to star in Christopher Nolan’s next film, which is scheduled for an Imax release on July 17, 2026, according to the latest reports. Plot details are unknown at this time, but Nolan’s last film, Oppenheimer, was a major success, having earned over $975 million globally following its release in July 2023. Damon’s previous appearances in Nolan films include Interstellar, the docking scene for which can be found below.
While some believed Nolan might have taken this package to market, Universal always seemed like the logical landing spot given the success of Oppenheimer, which grossed $328.9 million at the domestic box office and $975.6 million worldwide and brought in a number of accolades as well. The film won seven Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director and acting prizes for Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr.
