PC system requirements for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl have been announced before its November 20 release. After multiple delays, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is on track to be released in a matter of weeks, and those interested in obtaining a physical edition have a second opportunity to do so, as its publisher has secured another run for them.

System requirements hint at a game that will not need much in terms of modern hardware, with recommended specs listing some fairly older CPUs and GPUs. However, it will have a hefty install size since 150 GB is listed, something that was previously revealed by GSC Gameworld back in 2021.

PC System Requirements (per product page):

Minimum:

  • OS Version: Windows 10 / Windows 11
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X / Intel Core i5-7600K
  • Memory: 8 GB
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
  • Disc space: 150 GB SSD

Recommended:

  • OS Version: Windows 10 / Windows 11
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X / Intel Core i7-9700K
  • Memory: 16 GB
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8GB, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB
  • Disc space: 150 GB SSD

Physical Edition update:

A physical edition, of sorts since with a 150 GB install size they come with a download code in the box, is being offered in a variety of versions with prices ranging from $59.99 for the standard edition all the way up to ~$425 for the ultimate edition. What distinguishes the standard, limited, collector’s, and ultimate editions are in-game extras and various physical items. Pricing and purchasing links for PC and Xbox Series X|S can be found here. GSC Gameworld has secured distribution partners for all physical editions in North America and Europe but has indicated that, with the newer batch being offered, some customers may receive either a plastic or Steelcase game case.

Per Announcement:

  • “To our players out there, Throughout the whole development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, there was constant interest towards physical editions of the game. As we’re nearing the launch, we wanted to clarify the status of how it’s gonna be delivered to you or how you can still order it if you haven’t already done so.”
  • “The initial amount of physical editions is mostly sold out, but in order to fulfill the demand, we’re doing another run.”
  • “If you’ve already bought any physical edition of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, it will be delivered to you on the release date of the game by the retailer/shop through which you placed an order. You’re totally fine.”
  • “Important note: because of the way the products are produced, there is a chance that the game box itself will be either the plastic case or SteelBook® in a single universal design for all editions. This only applies for the new orders placed through the links we’ve provided. All the other components will be identical to the editions already produced. We cannot influence this at all, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience it may cause.”

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
