Anything can happen now that it’s been announced that Hogwarts Legacy is getting a free update to add modding support this week. Hogwarts Legacy is getting a creator tool kit that will allow players to create their own content such as dungeons, and quests, and share with the community or have fun customizing characters, items, and many other parts of the game. Players can also swap out a broomstick to fly and instead mount a dragon, or even a phoenix if looking for a more adventurous look while traversing the skies. An in-game mod section will allow players to download mods directly into their game from a repository hosted by CurseForge who will moderate submitted mods and already has content for players to experiment with.
Per the official social media page:
“Ever wanted to ride a vacuum instead of a broom? Take a swing instead of a swish and flick? Test your mettle in a custom dungeon created by your fellow Community members?”
The Hogwarts Legacy creator kit launches on January 30 as a separate app on Epic Games Store but mods can be downloaded from either there or Steam. It will only be available for PC users and only in English. Developer Avalance Software has not said if the app, which was will make its way to consoles. Hogwarts Legacy has been a huge success for Warner Bros. Games, having sold over 30 million copies since its release in 2023. This will be the first time Warner Bros. Games has released a mod kit for one of its games.
Per Press Release (via Gamespress):
“Warner Bros. Games today announced that for the first time, it will officially support PC modding with the critically acclaimed open-world action RPG Hogwarts Legacy. Beginning 30th January, Steam and Epic Games Store players can download the latest patch to easily access and download available mods directly from the main menu in the game, and those who want to create their own mods can do so with the Hogwarts Legacy Creator Kit available for free on the Epic Games Store.
CurseForge, one of the world’s largest repository of mods and addons for video games, will be hosting and moderating the Hogwarts Legacy mods. The Hogwarts Legacy Creator Kit will support modding new quests, dungeons, and character enhancements such as cosmetics and skins. The mods can then be submitted through the CurseForge platform to be published in the game.”
