The ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090, a custom version of NVIDIA’s leading “Blackwell” GPU for gamers, creators, and developers that ASUS says was designed to usher in a new frontier of gaming graphics, now costs $3,079.99, a notable increase over the $2,799.99 price that the company had originally announced for the GPU just days ago, according to updated listings for the graphics card that can be found on not only ASUS’ official website, but also popular retailers that include Newegg and B&H Photo.
“We expect that most, if not all of these [graphics cards] will be available at 6am PST for the US. Of course, things happen sometimes and a particular etailer or retailer may have a website issue or may be pending for stock to reach them,” reads a post that an ASUS employee submitted to reddit six days ago, one that can confirm the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 32GB GDDR7 OC Edition was originally priced at $2,800.
Here’s a copy of that post from ASUS, which remains live on r/NVIDIA at the time of this writing:
And here’s a look at the updated price of the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 32GB GDDR7 OC Edition on ASUS’ own webshop, where it’s listed as being out of stock:
“Inspired by the limitless expanse of the cosmos, the new ROG Astral line of graphics cards explores new heights of graphics performance,” reads a portion of a blog post that ASUS ROG published in January. “As ROG’s first quad-fan graphics card, the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 and ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 take cooling to the next level with up to 20% more airflow and pressure than our last-gen three-fan design. This helps reduce hotspots for unprecedented clock speeds.”
“The fourth fan allows for more densely packed heatsink fins as well, increasing the overall cooling potential,” ASUS goes on to explain. “In addition, the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 see the return of our patented vapor chamber design with milled pathways, allowing eight heatpipes to sink into the surface without flat edges for improved heat dissipation.”
