Grand Theft Auto VI, an eighth mainline entry of the action-adventure series that developer Rockstar Games has promised to be the most immersive evolution of the franchise yet, taking players to the fictional but expansive state of Leonida (“home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond”), will be released for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S this fall, according to new statements that Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two Interactive, shared today as part of his company’s latest financial report.
“Looking ahead, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two, as we plan to launch Sid Meier’s Civilization VII on February 11th, Mafia: The Old Country in the Summer, Grand Theft Auto VI in the Fall, and Borderlands 4,” Zelnick said, confirming a strong lineup of games that would include Rockstar’s highly anticipated title.
“We continue to invest prudently in our development pipeline and remain confident in Zynga’s potential to create new mobile forever franchises as demonstrated by their ongoing success with Match Factory,” the executive added. “As we continue to deliver hits, we remain highly confident that we will achieve sequential increases in, and record levels of, Net Bookings in Fiscal 2026 and 2027.”
“Grand Theft Auto VI continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences,” Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games, said in December 2023 when Take-Two announced the game and said that it would be available in 2025. “We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere.”
The GTA VI announcement trailer, which premiered on December 4, 2023 and remains available for viewing on YouTube, is now at over 238 million views on the official Rockstar channel.
“YESSSSS CONFIRMED FOR FALL 2025,” one recent comment reads.
“When is Trailer 2,” another asked.
