The Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D, AMD’s next Zen 5 CPUs to feature 3D V-Cache, will deliver up to 15% improved single-core performance versus their predecessors, the 7950X3D and 7900X3D, according to new benchmark scores derived from Geekbench.

Here’s a copy of the listings, which show the 9950X3D achieving a single-core and multi-core score of 3,363 and 20,465, respectively, while the lesser 9900X3D is listed with a single-core score of 3,274 and multi-core score of 19,227:

And here’s a performance comparison shared by one outlet:

  • Ryzen 9 9950X3D vs 7950X3D: ~15% single-core, ~4% multi-core
  • Ryzen 9 9900X3D vs 7900X3D: ~14.5% single-core, ~9.3% multi-core
  • Ryzen 7 9800X3D vs 7800X3D: ~20.5% single-core, ~19.3% multi-core

AMD had this to say about the 9950X3D and 9900X3D when they were announced in January:

AMD is rounding out its portfolio of exceptional desktop processors with AMD Ryzen 9950X3D and 9900X3D. The Ryzen 9950X3D is world’s best 16-core processor for gamers and content creators featuring 16 “Zen 5” CPU cores and AMD RDNA 2 graphics. Based on the utilizing 2nd Gen AMD 3D V-Cache technology, the new X3D processors push the boundaries of performance and innovation for desktop gamers.

The new generation of X3D processors relocates the cache memory below the core complex die (CCD), placing “Zen 5” cores closer to the cooling solution, to deliver higher clock speeds at lower temperatures and providing better performance compared to the previous generation.

New Ryzen X3D models are expected to be on-shelf in Q1 2025.
