From improved track simulation and realism using LIDAR scanning technology to an overhaul of its most popular game modes, along with a new reverse track option which includes reworked track details and changes, there are a number of things to look out for with the next instalment. The updated Achievement & Trophy list can be found here.

F1 25 officially launches on May 30 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Those who own either F1 23 or F1 24 can get a 15% “Loyalty Offer” discount for the Iconic Edition, the regular price is $59.99. Folks who pre-order the Iconic edition will be able to play on May 27, but also get access to the upcoming F1 film from Apple.

Based on the PC specs, it appears that F1 25 will be fairly GPU-bound for anyone wanting to use its highest image quality settings, even at 1080p. While GPUs such as an AMD RX570 or NVIDIA GTX 1060 are listed for lowest settings at 1080p, either an RTX 3080/RTX 5070 Ti, AMD RX 6800 XT, or Intel Arc B580 are recommended for 1440p@144 fps using the performance settings. After that, players will more or less need a top-tier GPU for higher settings. EA has said that AI drivers have been fine tuned for improved competitiveness while also having balanced weather and lighting effects for greater realism. The Ultra Max option now provides additional ray tracing with path tracing for the most realistic visual experience.

My Team 2.0:

One of the series’ most popular game modes, My Team receives its biggest overhaul since it was introduced in F1® 2020, challenging you to call the shots as the owner of your F1® team.

In addition to handling day-to-day running of the critical facilities that make an F1® team tick such as Engineering, Personnel and Corporate, you’ll be responsible for recruiting and managing a pair of drivers to represent your team.

Then, during race weekends, you’ll be given the choice as to which driver you’d like to take to the track.

LIDAR:

F1® 25 takes a big step forward when it comes to graphical fidelity. Not only do the tracks look better than ever, but they’re much more accurate too, thanks to Light Detection and Ranging scanning, also known as LIDAR.

Bahrain, Miami, Melbourne, Suzuka and Imola join Silverstone and have all been digitally scanned, generating millions of data points. This data, ranging from tiny asphalt surface details to the height of kerbs and distance to barriers, is used for unprecedented accuracy when recreating tracks in-game, ensuring you feel every bump and change in elevation, just like F1® drivers.

Reverse Tracks:

In a first for the official F1® games, you can experience some of your favourite races in a unique way.

Race around Silverstone, Zandvoort, and the Red Bull Ring in a reverse track layout. Enjoy these once-familiar circuits in Grand Prix, Time Trial, and Multiplayer, or add them to My Team and Driver Career from your second season onwards.

This isn’t a case of just turning the cars around on the starting grid. On top of computer-controlled (AI) drivers needing to be retrained, you’ll notice that every detail in a typical Grand Prix has been adapted for racing in reverse. This includes subtle changes you may not even think about such as brake boards, start-lights, off-track cameras for replays, grid boxes, and even marshals and flag wavers.

Braking Point 3 â€¢ Live out your very own blockbuster through this original story of Konnersport’s dramatic challenge for glory. This is a great starting point for new players and those looking for a narrative experience.

Driver Careerʉۢ Choose a real-world driver or race as your own creation across multiple seasons. Battle your rivals on and off-track to get the best seat and take the title. Add Konnersport or APXGP as an 11th team to drive for and compete against.

My Team â€¢ Take charge as the owner and principal of your very own F1® team, or bring Konnersport or APXGP to the grid as the 11th team. Hire drivers, develop your car and manage your workforce in our biggest game mode yet.

F1 Movie Content â€¢ Experience the cinematic event of the year ahead of its theatrical release in June. Drive as Sonny Hayes and Joshua Pearce as APXGP challenge the grid.

F1® World â€¢ The hub for solo, competitive and casual play. Create your own races with Grand Prixâ„¢, set hotlaps in Time Trial, beat the best in Ranked Multiplayer and take on Invitationals with your friends to unlock rewards.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
