XFX QuickSilver AMD Radeon RX 9070 OC Gaming Edition Video Card

Introduction

On March 5th, 2025, the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT and AMD Radeon RX 9070 GPUs launched, and video cards based on these new GPUs became available on March 6th, 2025. In today’s review, we will take a look at XFX’s new QuickSilver Radeon RX 9070 line with this Radeon RX 9070 factory overclocked video card. We have previously reviewed XFX’s Swift line Radeon RX 9070, so it will be interesting to see what the QuickSilver offers in comparison to the Swift when it comes to Radeon RX 9070 OC video cards.

This review will test out the XFX QuickSilver AMD Radeon RX 9070 OC Gaming Edition video card (RX-97QICKBB9) with an MSRP of $589.99. Launched on March 6th, 2025, this is one of XFX’s newest offerings from AMD. XFX has two tiers of video cards in the Radeon RX 9070 class, the QuickSilver and Swift. The Swift features a more simplistic design aesthetic while the QuickSilver has a bit more enthusiast flair, more robust cooling, a special “Magnetic Wings” function, and a lighted XFX logo. Both card classes have the same factory overclock, both have triple fan cooling, and both come in all black or all white. There are also two Swift cards, which are built slightly smaller in size.

Check out our AMD 9070 and 9070 XT announcement article, where we detailed every single presentation slide and showed everything from the press deck. The AMD Radeon RX 9070 is a cut-down Radeon RX 9070 XT, using the same die, but with cut-down CUs to meet the lower price point and performance. You can check out our AMD Radeon RX 9070 launch review here for all the low-down.

Just as a quick brief on the AMD Radeon RX 9070, the Radeon RX 9070 is AMD’s midrange GPU this generation, with a reference card MSRP of $549. The AMD Radeon RX 9070 has 56 CUs, 56 hardware RT accelerators, 112 hardware AI accelerators, with 1165 peak TOPS, clocked at a boost clock of 2.52GHz with 16GB of GDDR6 and a total board power of 220W.

XFX QuickSilver Series Radeon RX 9070

If you are unfamiliar with how XFX denotes its graphics card series, you can see that the SWIFT lineup are the performance models designed for casual gamers. In the Quicksilver Class, XFX offers high-performance model designs for mainstream gamers who want great performance, speed, and stability. They have the same features as the higher-end MERCURY series, but with a little less flair, but more than the SWIFT. One unique feature of the QuickSilver model we have to review today is the function of the Magnetic Wings. This is new for the Radeon RX 9070 series; these are removable pieces of the shroud that are magnetically attached. You can remove these and 3D print your own custom designs and colors to attach to the shroud, to customize your build, and also for system builders to customize designs as well.

Looking under the XFX Radeon RX 9070 series, and specifically the QuickSilver class, you’ll find models available in the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070. XFX does offer Radeon RX 9070 XT models with its unique Magnetic Air fan option, but the Radeon RX 9070 models do not have that option. There are two distinct Radeon RX 9070 QuickSilver options available, and both are factory overclocked video cards. There is simply the standard black model we have here today, and then also a white model available as well. Both Radeon RX 9070 QuickSilver models are exactly the same, just a color-themed difference, but both have the same factory overclock.

The XFX QuickSilver AMD Radeon RX 9070 OC Gaming Edition card comes overclocked out of the box with a Game Clock of 2210MHz and a Boost Clock of 2700MHz. Pricing, as usual, is unstable at this current time of writing, and you will have to judge pricing in real-time at the time of purchase. Officially, the MSRP of this video card is $589.99 according to XFX, with an adjusted shelf price of $649.99, but again, prices are subject to change in reality, so be sure to check the pricing as it will certainly change over time. This card carries a warranty of three years if registered with XFX.

XFX QuickSilver AMD Radeon RX 9070 OC Gaming Edition

We received our video card straight from XFX in a sealed retail box. The card is well protected in the usual box-in-a-box fashion. Inside, you will find a large placard with warranty and manual information. In the foam underneath is the video card and a magnetic card support stand.

As was touched upon above, the QuickSilver tier of cards from XFX is outfitted with a very robust cooler setup, referred to as the Ghost Thermal Design, featuring a nickel-plated cold plate, 6mm pipes, and a rather massive heatsink. The fans are 100mm axial design, 11-bladed, and double ball bearing. All in all, the goal of XFX is to provide the best cooling possible to support a generous factory overclock. The aesthetic here is simple and clean. The plastic cover shroud is designed with a rather industrial look, nothing flashy, and all black. The far right-hand side features an LED XFX logo. There is a full powder-coated metal backplate for protection and rigidity. The right-hand end has a large cut-out to provide increased air flow. The I/O end features a slotted design. All in all, a nice package.

The XFX QuickSilver Radeon RX 9070 OC Gaming Edition comes equipped with a factory overclock. The Game Clock is 2210MHz versus the reference design 2070MHz, while the Boost Clock is 2700MHz up from the reference clock of 2520MHz. This is a nice-sized jump, a 7% gain without doing a thing. This video card feels well-built and sturdy. The heatsink runs the full length of the card. The card measures 13 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 5/8 inches and weighs in at 3 pounds 6 ounces. It is a 3.5 slot design. The I/O panel supports three DisplayPort 2.1 and one HDMI 2.1. The card requires two 8-pin PCIe power connections. The placement has a nice cut-out to make the connection easy. This video card runs on the PCIe 5.0 X 16 bus. Total power is listed at 220 Watts, and XFX recommends a minimum of an 800-Watt PSU.

From the XFX webpage, XFX supplies a download that will allow the user to make 3D printed color magnetic wings for the sides of the video card. These require a small magnet but can easily fit on the side of the card to add a splash of color if you have a 3D printer. The XFX logo lights up in a brilliant LED white light.

SUMMARY

This review evaluates the XFX QuickSilver AMD Radeon RX 9070 OC Gaming Edition video card. This video card has a sleek design with excellent cooling. XFX sends the card out with a generous factory overclock which can be improved upon, gaining extra performance, thanks to a higher TDP for the AMD Radeon RX 9070. The card outperforms the competition and is an excellent graphics card for 1440p gaming at a good price point with 16GB of VRAM, which is important at this price point and for today's gaming experience.
